Postmodernism
Postmodern films often contain the following characteristics:
- Challenges genre conventions and could be a mixture of many genres
is fantasy, action/adventure, comedy, romance and sci-fi instead of conforming to one
- Challenge typical character roles
Emmet (the hero) is an average person, Wildstyle (female) is the strongest of the group, an emo and a woman and Batman is not as heroic as he is in other films
- Pastiche: imitates/has similarities with other stories, films, books and has a humorous take on troubles in society/culture
Links to the Matrix with a similar storyline/plot, brings in characters from other stories (Batman) and gives the message that imagination is important to have in society and you don't have to conform to the rules and be different
- Hyper-reality: makes the audience aware that they are watching a movie and that it isn't real (e.g. breaking the fourth wall like Deadpool)
The Lego Movie it the Lego worlds in animation with our real life world
This blog post hasn't been completed and the title has been spelt incorrectly - Postmodernism.
