Equilibrium - The normality and equal state of characters
Emmet is shown on the sofa watching TV

Disruption - Something breaks that normality
President Business makes an announcement that "you will be put to sleep"

Recognition of disruption - characters realise something has gone wrong
When Emmet realises what President Business has said on TV and repeats it

Attempt to repair - The characters try to solve the problem
The fight between the good characters and bad characters

New Equilibrium - Problem is solved, the new equilibrium is established



Genre hybridity: When a film mixes elements of different genres. For example, the lego movie mixes Sci-fi, comedy, romance, adventure and action.

Explain how the Lego movie is an example of genre hybridity. Discuss the products you have studied (5)

The lego movie shows genre hybridity because there are elements of various genres within the poster campaign and the ad break. In the poster fro Vitruvius, the background is seen to be a fantasy world with a dragon flying. This connotes the sci-fi genre of the movie. Furthermore, the trailer shows an action genre when good characters are fighting with bad characters. We can see this action genre code throughout the ad campaign and the posters. in the main posters, it is the main characters all running down the street with explosions in the background and in the ad campaign it is when the the protagonists are fighting with the villains

VISUAL ELEMENTS: mise-en-scene, cinematography
The facial expressions and body language of the characters in the main poster campaign suggest panic as they are running away from danger. This conveys the action-adventure genre.
In Vitruvius he has white hair and white clothes which connotes purity and gives angelic sense. This is an intertextual reference from the Hobbit and Lord Of The Rings which is a Sci-Fi, Adventure film
There is a clear difference between heroic protagonists and villainous antagonists –
Hybridity
President Business's facial expression on his close-up poster suggests he is a villainous character, which is a convention of the action-adventure genre. In contrast, some characters on the main poster convey elements of the comedy genre such as Unikitty, demonstrated by her out of place character amongst’ heroes’. This reflects genre hybridity.
The Vitruvius poster has a dragon in the background and it looks like he is in a fantasy world which connotes the sci-fi genre. However in the Wyldestyle poster she is in the city with tall buildings behind her. This connotes the action-adventure genre of the film.
The fight between the good and bad characters shows the action genre. The British Heart Foundation section shows the crime and comedy genre of the film
Iconography
Props? Sound? Location?
Props such as weaponry are examples of iconography of the action-adventure genre, as they connote danger and conflict. This reflects the genre.
In the Vitruvius poster, it is based in a fantasy world. This connotes a sci-fi genre which is one of the genres that the film is based on.
The fight between the protagonists and villainous antagonists reflects the action genre of this film.

    Good! HOWEVER, genre hybridity is shown within each media product. You've spoken about Vitruvius' poster and how it shows fantasty, but it also suggests action. The trailer DOES show action, but it also shows comedy/romance (how?).
    You've used a good structure and provided clear examples, but when discussinf genre hybridity, try and discuss more than one genre with each product.

The lego movie game summary PS4: -Colourful. -Animation is good. -fun and enjoyable. something both children and adults will enjoy. -combat is very simple and a lot worse than marvel. -some levels are fun and others are boring. -sometimes the controls are not as responsive as the other lego games. -overal, it is not as good as the other lego games e.g. harry potter or marvel WII: -Simple re-telling of the story in a game form. -uses clips from the movie as cut scenes. -doesn't have a big lego world, it has 4 small sub worlds. -the bonus room in the game has lots of product placement. -good variety of characters from the film that you can play with. • The Lego Movie Video game was released across all major video consoles and platforms ( Microsoft X360, Sony PS3, Nintendo 3DS, Sony PS4, Nintendo  WiiU , Xbox One and 360, Sony PSV and PC ) in 2014.
