The lego movie exam questions

How has the media language been used to create meaning in the lego movie advertising campaign? In your answer, you must talk about the poster campaign and the trailer. (10) In the Lego Movie trailer, the use of editing is used in the British Heart Foundation section to create meaning. The use of fast-paced editing and slow-paced editing is used to show the audience the realism of the situation. For example, because the situation is one that is often uneasy to some people and the mix between the fast and slow-paced editing is to portray this. In the lego movie poster campaign, mise-en-scene is used to create meaning in the Chris Pratt poster. He is wearing a builders outfit whilst being portrayed as the hero in the movie. This is a counter type of a typical hero as they are usually portrayed as the wealthier people or more sophisticated people but a builder is usually portrayed as the opposite. This shows the audience that anyone can be a hero and it does not just have to ...

Capitalism Capitalism is an economic and political system whereby a country's trade and industry are conducted by private owners for profit, rather than by the state. Lego Movie : Lord Business ( villain) is the President of Lego Land, who presides over a dictatorial state. His regime creates virtually everything in the Lego society and he uses televised broadcasts to inform his citizens (with a friendly grin on his face) that they’ll be executed if they disobey. He controls a secret police, who is charged with torturing dissidents and rebels. Set product: This is reflected in one of the film’s posters. Lord Business is towering over the other Lego figures, who are running away from him hysterically. He has complete control as the ‘evil’ characters whom he is in charge of are creating Mass hysteria and destroying the city. Reflects society: As America is a capitalist society, The Lego Movie Poster reflects this and the time when it was produced...

Lego Movie - exam questions

To what extent does Propp's character theory fit The Lego Movie poster campaign (5) Propps theory fits the Lego Movie posters because they each represent the different characters. For example, Wyldestyle represents the princess and the helper in the movie. However, she challenges the stereotype of the typical princess as they are usually the scared ones that need saving. However, her facial expression suggests that she is very calm and this is reflected in the fact that she is also the helper. Emmet is portrayed as the hero is the film. However, his facial expressions suggest he is scared, unlike a typical hero. This shows how he is an unconventional hero who also has lots of helpers. I believe that The Lego Movie loosely follows Propp's character theory as there are different characters and roles that relate to the theory but they do not conform to the attitudes that these characters typically play in his theory. Analyse how genre codes have been used in the Lego Mov...

The guardian - Lego Movie

It might be the most "classically liberal film in the history of film-making. The film has elements that are echoes of Jesus and Guru Nanak, the father of Sikhism. The Lego Movie is an extended advertisement or "sponsored content" for lego products and this is why it succeeds as a piece of advertisement. The Lego Movie knows its products are toys and proudly advertises its products as toys. The Lego Movie is primarily a standard action-adventure film. Emmet, a regular Lego construction worker, is swept up in a conspiracy to overthrow Lord Business Lego understands it has two audiences: the children who want to play with the toys and the parents who have to pay for them. In advertising terms: the film needs to present a compelling value proposition to the parents so they should be willing to pay for it.

Analyse how mise-en-scene is used in the extract to create meaning. Refer to at least two examples from the extract in your answer Nathans character is sat in a wheelchair. This shows that he is weak and vulnerable and less capable to do anything. Nathan is also representing those in society who are less fortunate. Another example is that Ryan and Jake are wearing police officer outfits. This highlights their job in society, their superiority and represents the police. Analyse how far the extract is stereotypical to gender. This extract is stereotpical to gender because we only see the two male police officers dealing with the situation, perhaps inferring that they are more able than females. Furthermore, in the hospital, Nathan's seen as a 'druggie' who has also self harmed and could suggest that it is only typical from men to self harm and not women. The mother character in Cuffs is female and...
